Saltires post sees Collingwood plot England’s World Cup ruin
ENGLAND’S most capped one-day cricketer Paul Collingwood will now plot their World Cup downfall after agreeing to return to the Scotland coaching staff for next year’s showpiece event.
The Durham skipper was Scotland’s joint interim head coach as the Saltires booked their place for the tournament in Australia and New Zealand with a three-wicket victory over Kenya in January.
The 38-year-old assumed the role of England assistant coach for the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh in March, briefly working under Ashley Giles before his role ended with the appointment of Peter Moores.
Scotland will meet England in Christchurch on 23 February while also facing Australia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, New Zealand and Afghanistan in Pool A.
“It’s a great pleasure for me to be back on the coaching team with the Scotland squad,” said Collingwood. “I’m very much looking forward to working with them to help get the team fully prepared for these incredibly important matches.”
