Crossrail’s first development opens in Canary Wharf – we get a first glimpse
After the endless road closures, building works and general disruption, this weekend people will get their first glimpse of Crossrail, when Crossrail Place, the building housing Canary Wharf's station, opens to the public.
As well as the station, the seven-storey building is due to house shops, restaurants, a gym and a cinema.
At the top is a garden – not unlike the Walkie Talkie's Sky Garden – with plants which give a nod to the "historic destinations" with which merchants at Canary Wharf once traded.
"The garden references both the history and geography of Canary Wharf," said Lord Foster of architects Foster & Partners, which designed the building.
City A.M got a first glimpse inside the roof garden.
