Lib Dem’s Caroline Pidgeon to take the fight to TfL over Wembley Park tube closure chaos
Leader of the Lib Dem London Assembly Group, Caroline Pidgeon, plans to confront Transport for London (TfL) over closures at key Tube stations during significant events, after the women’s football international at Wembley on Sunday.
“With close to 50,000 people visiting Wembley to see this international game, it seems TfL opted for a cap on tickets for this women’s international rather than revising their decision to close Wembley Park tube station,” she told City A.M.
Pidgeon also cites closures at Tower Hill station during the poppy exhibition, as an example of TfL’s poor choices over engineering works. “Quite frankly the senior management at TfL took their eye off the ball,” she said.
Questions will be raised with Mayor Boris Johnson in writing and Pidgeon also intends to speak to senior TfL management in the coming days.
