Ex-Arsenal captain Tony Adams “eyeing up” Aston Villa takeover bid
Ex-Arsenal captain Tony Adams is said to eyeing up a £150m takeover bid for Premier League club Aston Villa, it has been reported.
Adams has apparently joined forces with former Chelsea executive Paul Smith and they have approached City investors over backing a potential bid according to Sky News.
The pair are said to have approached private equity and other investment firms for the sum of £75m, while the remaining cash will come from new debt.
They've reportedly created a new company called Halo, which will be used as a vehicle to acquire the struggling club, as well as minority stakes in other leading football clubs.
It's currently unclear whether they've been successful in securing financial backing for their plans.
