Mulberry hires fashion guru as non-executive
MULBERRY said yesterday it had hired former Barneys fashion director Julie Gilhart as a non-executive director as the troubled luxury brand continues on a hiring spree to help turn itself around.
Gilhart, 56, spent 18 years at the US department store, working in various roles. However, she was forced to step down in 2010 as part of a management shake-up.
She now consults for companies such as LVMH and Amazon, helping the online retailer to build its fast-growing clothing business.
Mulberry chairman Godfrey Davis said Gilhart would bring “considerable fashion and brand experience” to the company.
Last week, the group confirmed Celine designer Johnny Coca would be joining as its new creative head in July 2015, ending a year-long search for Emma Hill’s replacement.
