Esure board will see duo depart in May next year
INSURANCE firm Esure group revealed the departures of Dame Helen Alexander and Anthony Hobson yesterday, both of whom will step down from the company’s board after its general meeting in May 2015.
Alexander – the first female president of the Confederation of British Industry – will stand down after three years as deputy chairman and senior independent director.
Shirley Garrood will take over as senior independent director, while Alexander’s role as chairwoman of Esure’s remuneration committee will pass to Mike Evans with effect from 1 January 2015. Hobson will leave the board after 12 years with the Sheilas’ Wheels owner, through its management buyout in 2010 and its IPO in 2013. His position as chair of the investment committee will be taken by Anne Richards.
Peter Wood, Esure chairman, stated: “I remain fully committed to [the] group’s progress and development with great personal confidence in a bright future for esure Group. I have therefore expressed to the board my desire to continue to serve as chairman for the medium term.”
