We need points not pints, Harry tells QPR squad
QUEENS Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has urged his players to shelve thoughts of Christmas celebrations and pour their energies into a pivotal run of festive fixtures.
Redknapp is wary of the negative publicity a team party can attract, especially at a time when they are fighting to recover from a dreadful start to the Premier League season.
Rangers face Burnley tomorrow and further clashes with relegation rivals West Brom and Crystal Palace later this month, and Redknapp wants his men to prioritise points over pints.
“I’m not into Christmas parties, not for footballers. I think it’s more aggravation than it’s worth. There’s always someone out there with a camera on their phone,” he said. “We’re in a relegation battle and we need to make sure we concentrate fully. The teams we’ve got are down there with us so it’s important we pick up good points.”
