Diamond has a Yale of a time
“NO ONE in the world I admire more than my dad,” tweeted Bob Diamond’s loyal daughter when, in the summer of 2012, the Barclays boss was being hounded out of the bank over the Libor-rigging scandal.
Diamond was subsequently replaced by Antony Jenkins, of course, but now it seems that daughter Nellie may admire her old man enough to want to follow in his metaphorically large footsteps.
“So proud of Nellie!” Diamond Senior tweeted last night, celebrating his offspring’s graduation from the Yale School of Management.
Having got married in October last year to Teddy Wasserman – a managing director at Deutsche Bank – perhaps a career in business is next on the cards for Nell. City recruiters, don’t say we didn’t warn you.
▪ US President Barack Obama finally broke free from his aides and was allowed to join Twitter yesterday, after six years in the Oval Office. But they’re keeping a close eye on the leader of the free world – his first follower was the White House, followed by wife Michelle, then Vice-President Joe Biden. Obama made fun of his own leisurely paced uptake of the clipped communication method, tweeting: “Hello, Twitter! It’s Barack. Really! Six years in, they’re finally giving me my own account.” He followed it up with a photo post of a meeting with a youth-focused police group. Late last night, the President had just over 1.03m followers, but so far had only returned the love by following 65 people and organisations. Away from the politics, Obama made sure to follow all the sporting teams from his home town of Chicago, Illinois.
