Land Registry: UK house prices up in April, driven by semi-detached properties
The rising value of semi-detached homes has led a rise in house prices across the UK in April, the latest Land Registry figures show.
The average price of a semi – now £170,470 – was up 5.6 per cent on last year, helping annual prices rise 5.1 per cent overall, and bringing the average value of all properties across the UK to £179,817.
It's the second month in a row semis have outstripped the growth of other types of property, while the rising prices of smaller flats and maisonettes have moderated this year.
London led the pack for the regions, with prices growing 10.9 per cent on last year, taking the average property price in the capital to £474,544.
April's house prices across the UK were also up 0.9 per cent on the month before, despite pre-election jitters. In London, they were up 2.3 per cent.
