Uber London driver suspended after gay couple say they were thrown out of cab for “kissing and cuddling”
An Uber driver in London has been suspended after a gay couple claimed they were kicked out of the cab for kissing and cuddling.
The passengers, Corey Watts and Jordan Sloat, complained to Uber after they had been asked to get out a few minutes into their journey on New Year’s Day.
When the couple confronted the driver, he allegedly replied "I take gays but they don't normally do this," Sloat told ITV News.
Uber has suspended the driver and is investigating the incident. The taxi startup, which has faced a number of controversies including the behaviour of drivers, said in a statement to City A.M: “Uber does not tolerate any form of discrimination either by our partner drivers or towards our partner drivers.
“We opened an investigation from the moment we learned of this unacceptable incident and have been in contact with the rider to extended our sincere apologies and get further information. The driver concerned has been suspended from the Uber platform.”
