Not surprisingly, Paddy Power has Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein, the only credible challenger to Blatter in the recent election, at 7/4, as one of the favourites at 7/4. Given the same odds is Uefa president Michel Platini (who had apparently told Blatter it was time to go – but "with tears in my eyes").
German FA president Wolfgang Niersbach, fellow presidential hopeful Jerome Champagne, Fifa vice president Jim Boyce, CONCACAF acting president Alfredo Hawit and Dtuch football chief Michael van Praag are all given odds of 10/1.
Meanwhile, ex-Premier League player David Ginola – who threw his hat into the ring last time – is 50/1. Doesn't look good.
Then again, Blatter could always do a Farage: Betway gives him odds of 5/1 to "un-resign" and see his term as president through.
Seems unlikely – but Betway's Alan Alger was adamant.
"Though Blatter has tendered his resignation… a successor won't be elected for some time," he pointed out. That gives Blatter plenty of time to reconsider…
