Barbour maker hit by strike
LUXURY outdoor clothing brand Barbour has failed to avoid strike action by employees at its warehouse in Gateshead over a change to working hours.
A group of 65 of the company’s 160 staff there have begun a series of daily walkouts against new shift patterns, due to come into effect in March this year. Managing director Steve Buck said Barbour is “very disappointed” not to have reached an agreement, despite offering a 10 per cent pay rise. Orders and distribution will not be affected, he added.
