Fullers firing on all cylinders as pubs report big sales increases
LONDON beer company Fuller, Smith & Turner, which brews London Pride, yesterday said sales at its estate of boozers have increased since March despite a fall in its beer and cider sales.
The company, which was founded in 1845 and still brews beer at its original site in Chiswick, saw like-for-like sales at its managed pubs and hotels rise 5.5 per cent between the end of March and May.
However, beer and cider volumes fell two per cent. Profits at pubs run by tenants rose two per cent.
The figures contrast with full year numbers also released yesterday.
Like for like sales at managed pubs rose 6.5 per cent for the year ending March, while tenant pubs increased five per cent and beer and cider revenue rose six per cent to £122.9m.
The business has 189 pubs and hotels around the country and has a further 203 pubs run by tenant landlords.
Chief executive Simon Emeny said: “It has been another year of excellent progress for the company and I am delighted to be reporting growth in all three areas of the business.”
