GET YOUR glad-rags out; the City’s most exclusive venues are holding hundreds of corporate events this summer, and they’re pulling out the big guns to get more.
Two of the City’s most exclusive venues are both opening roof-gardens this season to attract corporate punters; with one even shelling out for free Apple Watches.
Corporate monolith and false idol The Shard hosted over 30 corporate events last year, and the 306-metre high building is getting yet another extension in preparation for a summer of parties, fundraisers and networking events.
Meanwhile, events teams at the OXO Tower are baiting businesses with Apple Watches to draw in bookings.
OXO 2, which so far has 20 corporate events penciled in for June alone, is giving away a free Apple Watch to anyone making a last-minute booking at the venue this month.
▀ Hat’s at the ready; just incase any passers-by didn’t already know Royal Ascot has a dress code, the racecourse unveiled its Style Guide as a window display. In keeping with the event’s famously strict dress code, the space outside one of the venue’s ticket offices showcases the 2015 Royal Ascot Style Guide, showing guests “how to dress appropriately” for the Royal Meeting. The outfits for this years’ dress code attendants – white dresses and blazers with matching hats. Now you know who to avoid if you’re sporting a mini-skirt.
▀ Virgin Money have launched a Sex Pistols credit card, ideal for paying for your holidays in the sun. If Virgin Holidays’ rock-star themed adverts weren’t metal enough for you, Branson’s business are now getting back to their punk roots, with Sex Pistols-inspired credit cards being released today. The cards celebrate the 38th anniversary of the group’s contract with Virgin Records. Cards will feature artwork from the band’s records, including the single Anarchy In The UK and the infamous “Never Mind The Bollocks” cover. The bank’s chief executive Jayne-Anne Gadhia said she will be getting the latter. The bank said there were parallels between the band and Virgin’s convention-breaking ways.
