Pardew eyes Gestede move
CRYSTAL Palace boss Alan Pardew is closing in on further striking reinforcements after making a bid for Blackburn Rovers’ leading goalscorer Rudy Gestede.
The Benin international has netted 25 goals in 52 appearances for the Championship side, while his 24 strikes in 2014 made him the second highest scorer in the Football League behind Chesterfield’s Eoin Doyle.
The 26-year-old would be Pardew’s second signing of the January transfer window after recruiting Arsenal forward Yaya Sanogo on loan until the end of the season.
Striker Dwight Gayle and captain Mile Jedinak are Palace’s joint top-scorers this term with five goals apiece in all competitions.
