Solstice crowds seek Stonehenge
MORE than 23,000 people descended on the neolithic Stonehenge site yesterday to celebrate the Summer solstice – the longest day of the year when the sun is at its maximum elevation.
While some revellers would be just happy that the weather was settled for the 4:52am sunrise, some lucky attendees were allowed to touch the stones as well.
The festival dates back thousands of years and crowds were treated to a dramatic sunrise along with some impromptu music performances.
