■ Chelsea’s out-on-loan forward Patrick Bamford was one of the stars in a dramatic weekend of FA Cup football, scoring for Middlesbrough to knock Man City out of the FA Cup. Yet Bamford could well have been featuring on the pages of City A.M. as a business, not footballing star. Aged 17, he was offered a scholarship to study business at Harvard. Having completed his A-Levels a year early, the Ivy League university gave him an unconditional offer, but Bamford chose to go pro with Notts Forest instead. Harvard is probably not used to being a backup option.
