Spotify make alt-Glasto line-up
THERE was a lot of controversy around this year’s Glastonbury line-up – and that was even before Kanye West’s defiant Saturday night performance on the main stage.
While some were happy to see folkish singer Florence and the Machine replace the Foo Fighters to headline on Friday, others had petitioned against Kanye being there at all.
Yet all the dispute has been settled by music-streaming service Spotify, which came up with its own Glastonbury line-up based on the site’s most popular tracks.
Both Florence and Kanye have been brought down a peg on the alternative line-up.
According to the number of Spotify streams, the real headliners on Friday and Saturday night should have been singer-songwriters James Bay, who was streamed more than Florence, and George Ezra, who had more streams than Kanye.
