Citi hires Swedish ex-finance minister for its Nordic business
ANDERS Borg has joined Citibank as a senior adviser, focusing on the Nordics and the public sector.
The economist and former finance minister played a leading role in Sweden’s government from 2006 to 2014.
Borg’s appointment represents a boost to Citi’s ambitions in the region. It prides itself as a bank which can link its clients to a huge number of economies across the world, but it has been tough to gain ground against established players in the Nordic market.
“He is uniquely positioned in the global political and financial arena to advise our clients on the key issues they face as they do business around the world,” said the bank’s Nordic boss Eirik Winter.
Since September, Borg has worked for the Finnish government and the World Economic Forum, as well as taking non-executive roles at Kinnevik and Millicom.
