WeWork launches shared office space for start-ups at Moorgate
A US COMPANY that provides flexible workspace to start-ups is hoping to tap into demand among London’s thriving tech community after launching a new site near Moorgate station today.
WeWork has taken eight floors at Brookfield’s Moorgate Exchange, its fourth location in the UK after opening in Sea Containers House, Soho and Devonshire Square over the last six months.
The company said the Moorgate site will open in three phases starting today and will eventually host 3,000 workers, making it the largest single shared workspace community in the UK.
The serviced office sector has boomed over the last decade, fuelled by small-to medium-sized businesses avoiding burdensome leases in favour of more flexible and creative workspaces.
WeWork, one of the newest arrivals in the capital, boasts added benefits like beer on tap and game arcades. It aims to create a community where entrepreneurs can share ideas as well as space.
