QUEENS Park Rangers interim boss Chris Ramsey voiced his pride after guiding the Hoops out of the relegation zone as his side secured their first away victory of the season at fellow strugglers Sunderland at the Stadium of Light last night.
On the day owner Tony Fernandes tweeted he was close to securing his dream manager – former Swansea manager Michael Laudrup has been installed as the favourite to take the Loftus Road reins – first-half strikes from Leroy Fer and Bobby Zamora saw QPR end a nightmare run of 11 consecutive away league defeats this term.
“It’s nice from a visual point of view to see yourselves above the relegation line,” said Ramsey, whose side move 17th, despite the absence of injured top-scorer Charlie Austin. “It’s a very important result. It’s been a long time coming. We’ve had some good away performances but we just haven’t had the rub of the green.”
