Injury robs Lancaster of duo for remainder of Six Nations
ENGLAND centre Brad Barritt and flanker Tom Croft have been ruled out for the remainder of the Six Nations after suffering injuries while on club duty at the weekend.
Barritt, who has not played for England since victory over Australia in the autumn, incurred an ankle injury during Saracens’ clash with Wasps on Sunday, while Croft dislocated his shoulder playing for Leicester.
Full-back Mike Brown, flanker Tom Wood and second row Courtney Lawes are all in contention to feature against Scotland at Twickenham on Saturday after recovering from injuries.
Exeter Chiefs’ fly-half Henry Slade, who has also featured at inside and outside centre this term, has been included in England’s 35-man training squad for the Calcutta Cup, as has Bath code-switcher Sam Burgess.
“We’ve lost one or two lads with injuries which is a real disappointment,” said head coach Stuart Lancaster. “But we’ve got two or three senior players coming back into the equation who have performed for us in the past.”
