Soaring talent demand pushes up City salaries
Competition for professional staff is pushing up London salaries.
The number of professional job vacancies climbed 21 per cent year-on-year in February, according to figures released today by recruiters Morgan Mckinley.
Surging demand for new employees is resulting in higher pay packages. Workers securing new positions were lured away by a 21 per cent pay rise.
“The New Year is traditionally strong,” said Hakan Enver, operations director at Morgan McKinley. “But we had predicted this year would be exceptional and this has been reflected in the figures.”
Morgan McKinley’s data echoed the findings of an earlier survey by the Association of Professional Staffing Companies that put IT and finance professionals at the top of firms’ demands.
“It is a well-known fact that regulation is continuing to fuel demand in the financial services sector,” Enver said.
