Usain Bolt more eager to beat Justin Gatlin in favoured 200m
The world’s fastest man Usain Bolt has warned sprint rival Justin Gatlin that he is even more confident of beating him when they resume hostilities at the World Athletic Championships in the 200m.
Bolt upset the odds and reaffirmed his status as a great by beating American Gatlin, who has served two drug bans and is running faster than ever, to retain his 100m title on Sunday. They both race again today in the longer distance, with Gatlin again the man in form, having run the fastest time of the year, but Bolt emboldened by an eight-year unbeaten record in the event at major events.
“Justin Gatlin has been running great all season so I do not expect him to show up at start line and not compete,” he said. “I’m looking forward to it as it’s my favourite event and something I want more than the 100m. I never doubt myself. I know my ability.”
