City bosses in charity sleepout
TEN OF the City’s top bosses will sleep rough tonight to raise money and awareness of Action for Children, a charity for the UK’s young homeless people.
Michael Tobin, the former chief executive of TelecityGroup, has invited business leaders to brave the cold for one night and sleep under the stars in front of the London Stock Exchange.
Action for Children’s chief executive, Sir Tony Hawkhead, will join him, along with Barclaycard Europe boss Dave Chan and Dell UK chief exec Tim Griffin, among others.
Last year’s CEO Sleepout raised £85,000, and this year’s event is aiming for £100,000, which will go towards emergency home services around the UK.
■ AND SO to Balfour Beatty, where new boss Leo Quinn has made his presence felt. The Capitalist phoned up (what we thought was) its PR firm Maitland, hoping to get a photo of Quinn for our interview with the great man. In no uncertain terms, we were informed by a disgruntled employee: “No we don’t, and if I had a photo of him, I’d be throwing darts at it.” Miaow. Seems that Quinn has dropped Maitland as its PR firm and replaced it with Tulchan Communications. Word to the wise: what ever you do, Tulchan, do not make Quinn angry.
