Amazon to open tenth UK fulfilment centre in Doncaster
Amazon is creating over 300 new jobs as the internet retailer plans to open its tenth fulfilment centre in the UK this autumn.
The company has chosen Doncaster as the location for its new 250,000 sq ft warehouse, which will be the second fulfilment centre in the city, as a first one opened in 2010.
John Tagawa, vice president of operations at Amazon UK, hinted that there are plans for more warehouses further ahead:
Our existing Doncaster team has done an exceptional job of delivering a first rate level of service for our customers and we are delighted to open another site which will further draw upon the strong pool of talent in the area.
Amazon's existing eight fulfilment centres, in Doncaster, Dunfermline, Gourock, Hemel Hempstead, Marston Gate, Peterborough, Rugeley and Swansea Bay, employ over 7,000 people, and a ninth is slated to open shortly in Dunstable.
