Michael Lewis' The Big Short – the bestseller which delved into how the crisis came about – is now a fully-formed movie and about to be released.
Boasting an all-star cast including Christian Bale, Brad Pitt, Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling, the film will hit cinemas at Christmas. The newly-released trailer gives us a hint of what's to come – and a financial crisis has never looked so exciting.
There are glossy shots of skyscrapers, a rousing soundtrack and pithy one-liners such as "I'm sure the world's banks have more incentives than greed" and "I tell you what you just did, you just bet against the American economy".
