We all knew going to university was more expensive these days, but this is ridiculous: a developer has launched a set of exclusive student digs in Mayfair, with the top-priced apartment going for £5,250 per week – or £21,000 a month.
Developed by Criterion Capital, the six apartments in Fountain House, on Park Lane in Mayfair, are aimed at high-end students.
Wetherell, the estate agent behind the apartments, said the rest of the apartments – which range from 1,600 sq ft to 2,000 sq ft – were priced at £2,250 per week, or £9,000 per month. A far cry from the cramped conditions most London students are used to…

The estate agent added that it isn't unusual for overseas students to shell out big bucks for high-end apartments. "Wealthy overseas students from the Middle East, North America, Asia and Africa can afford to pay over £2,000 per week for luxurious apartments in apartments," it said.
London's 107,000 international students spend £1.32bn on tuition fees each year, according to figures by the government's Higher Education Statistics Agency, which also showed they spend £1.36bn on accommodation and subsistence.
