Nigella Lawson is coming to Canary Wharf this month
We can already imagine the sheer glee on the faces of Canary Wharf’s male population when they find out that TV Domestic Goddess Nigella Lawson is coming to the Docklands for a book signing later this month.
Lawson will be beating the brokers off with a stick on October 20, when the stylish chef will be signing copies of her new book Simply Nigella: Feel Good Food in Jubilee Place Mall.
Those who want a sneaky selfie with the star – or possibly a phone number – are advised to arrive early and sharpen their elbows for the Waterstones event, as access to Ms Lawson is strictly on a first-come, first-served basis.
The book's recipes are described as: “uncomplicated, relaxed and yet always satisfying”, which sounds like the polar opposite of a typical day in the financial district.
On the other hand, Nigella may rub some wharfers up the wrong way with her disdain for the "clean eating" culture that has recently become so popular.
Speaking to Good Housekeeping magazine ahead of her book launch, Lawson dismissed the current trend for "clean eating" (endorsed by a hefty proportion of the financial district’s food stalls and cafes) as a fad, and said following a balanced diet should not involve "being smug".
Lawson told reporters: “I wouldn’t want a life where I lived on chia seed pudding.” Better steer clear of Protein Haus then.
