After Volkswagen crisis the next major corporate scandal is imminent – CIPD
It won’t be long before the next major corporate scandal unfolds, according to research carried out by the CIPD, the professional body for HR and people development.
During an investigation into ethical decision making in business, 29 per cent of company heads from across the world admitted to compromising on principles in order to meet business needs.
When it comes to employees, almost one in three said they would reward high-performing people regardless of their moral values, while fewer than two in three said an organisation should take into account the moral responsibility it has for its workers.
“The VW scandal is a stark reminder that organisations… need to think carefully about how they create organisational culture and how they increase the chance that people at all levels of the organisation will make ethically sound decisions,” said CIPD chief executive Peter Cheese.
