City of London police appeal for cyclist after incident left woman hospitalised
City of London police have launched an appeal to track down a cyclist after a woman in her 60s was knocked to the floor, requiring a hip replacement.
The collision between the two took place on King William Street, near the junction of St Swithins Lane and Lombard Street, on 30 September at 5pm.
The 62-year-old woman was attempting the cross road through stationery traffic when the cyclist – travelling in the wrong direction – knocked her to the floor.
The cyclist initially stopped and spoke to a member of the public who was helping the injured woman but then left the area without providing any contact details, police said.
The woman was taken to a London hospital, where she was found to have a fractured left hip and as a result had to have a hip replacement.
Detective constable Dominic Shaw from the City of London Police said: “We would like the cyclist or anyone who witnessed the incident on 30 September to come forward and speak to us. Any detail will benefit our investigation.”
The cyclist was riding a mountain or hybrid bicycle wearing a hi-vis jacket and possibly a yellow helmet.
