Nameless CVs: Barristers chambers 4-5 Gray’s Inn announces it will adopt name-blind recruitment later this week
Barrister's chambers 4-5 Gray’s Inn today became the latest to announce it will engage in so-called "blind recruitment" methods.
Later this week, the chambers will launch an online application form on its website, where the only personal identifier used will be the candidate’s mobile telephone number. All other personal information, such as name, gender and marital status, will be effectively hidden from the recruiter until after successful applicants are called into interview.
Timothy Straker QC, head of chambers, said: “We intend to stay at the forefront of best recruitment practice.”
And John Lister, director of chambers, added: “Chambers’ progression continues apace with the formal adoption of blind recruitment, reinforcing a policy of absolute fairness.”
The announcement comes shortly after several public and private sector companies, including bank HSBC, the BBC and NHS England, pledged to operate name-blind recruitment for their graduate positions.
