Paris attacks: Saint Denis terror suspects were planning to target business district La Defense
The suspected terrorists that police swooped on in the early hours of this morning were planning another attack on Paris – this time in the financial district La Defense.
At least two people were killed and seven arrested as part of the raid in the city's northern suburb of Saint Denis this morning as part of an investigation into last week's attacks.
One of the dead was a woman who detonated her suicide belt during the operation.
Reuters is quoting a source close to the investigation as saying: "This new team was planning an attack on La Defense."
The police had received counter-terrorism intelligence domestically and from overseas, the source added. It is thought the team was searching for Belgian-born Abdelhamid Abaaoud, who is accused of ordering the attacks on 13 November in which 129 people died and more than 350 were injured.
The French government has declined to comment so far.
