Turkish Airlines flight from New York City to Istanbul diverted to Canada after bomb threat
A Turkish Airlines flight bound for Istanbul has been diverted to Canada after a bomb threat.
The flight, carrying 256 people and travelling from New York, landed at Halifax airport Canadian officials said.
Police in Novia Scotia said they were investigating the origins of the threat and the person or people behind it.
It's the third flight diversion in the space of a week amid heightened security in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Paris.
Two Air France planes landed safely after they were diverted earlier this week following anonymous bomb threats.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police of Novia Scotia tweeted the threat was received at 10.50pm (2.50am GMT).

The flight took off from New York's JFK airport bound for Ankara in Turkey. it landed safely at 12.53am (4.50am GMT) at Halifax's Stanfield airport.
