Friends, Dirty Dancing, a hatchback and £4,300 in savings: How do you compare to the average 30-year-old?
The average 30-something has £4,300 saved in the bank, drives a hatchback, and will spend more than three years saving for a deposit. Sound familiar?
A survey by Nationwide reveals 30- to 35-year-olds on average have around £343 a month in disposable income, which they splash on two meals out, two nights out, and one trip to the cinema a month. 70 per cent of those surveyed said most of their cash ends up going towards rent and bills
Most people in their early 30s will be living with their partner of seven years (no pressure) in a house worth £240,000, but will still have around £5,000 of student loans left to pay off. Although 40 per cent have yet to climb the first rung of the property ladder.
A third said they were saving to go travelling, and the average 30-year-old fits in a big holiday around once a year.
Come payday, 37 per cent go clothes shopping, eat out for dinner and go to the pub. One in five splash out on technology and gadgets.
