Kentish Town Tube station incident being treated as attempted murder by police amid claims man was pushed under train
Police are hunting a suspect in connection with today's incident at Kentish Town, after a man was pushed in front of an approaching Tube.
British Transport Police said the victim had suffered "life-changing injuries" as a result of the incident, which eyewitnesses suggested was deliberate. They are treating the incident as attempted murder.
Eyewitnesses claim the man, who was treated by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service for his injuries, was pushed by another man at around 11:45am as a train came into the station.
Detective superintendent Gary Richardson said: “We have received reports from witnesses that the man was pushed in front of a train and we are currently treating this as an attempted murder.
“We are now issuing images of a man we want to speak to in connection with the incident and appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
“He was at the station at the time and we believe he will be able to help our enquiries.
“He is described as black, clean shaven, aged 20 to 30, around 5 ft 11, stocky build, with short hair.
“After the incident, the man pictured ran to the northbound platform where he boarded a Tube in the direction of High Barnet.
“If you know who he is, please contact us immediately.”
The station has been closed since the incident and TfL was unable to confirm whether it would reopen later today.
One person tweeted:"I feel physically sick. Someone has just been pushed under a train at Kentish Town underground station. Please everyone stay safe."

Kentish Town full of police. Tube station closed. Apparently a guy was pushed from the platform into a moving train earlier.
