Barclays online banking services crashed again
Barclays online banking services crashed today, leaving the bank’s customers unable to access their mobile and online accounts for the second time in weeks.
Around midday, Barclays customers complained on Twitter that they were locked out of their banking services with the bank, unable to make payments or transfer money.
This is the latest in a spate of glitches for Barclays online services. Just two weeks ago, the bank had a similar problem with its mobile app, and a month ago “technical issues” kept customers from accessing their accounts.
After working to "urgently" resolve the problem, Barclays' services are now back up again, with a spokesperson from the bank telling City A.M.:
We’re aware that some customers may have experienced issues affecting our mobile and online channels. All services are now in the process of being restored and we apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused.
Users also reported trouble in trying to phone the bank, including difficulties in carrying out transactions over the phone and long delays for customer services.
Dear @Barclays you're taking the piss. Keep getting error code 64 trying to set up online banking, call you and 30minute wait time? Thanks..

The @BarclaysUK app and online banking seem to be down. It says it's "seeing some issues" with "all" of its digital channels. #barclays

The glitch comes mere days after the bank announced it would be slashing thousands of jobs, and several disgruntled customers have connected the two:
