Robert Brown has joined specialist underwriting firm Marketform as global practice leader of its M&A Insurance operations, heading up a team specialist underwriters and lawyers who are responsible underwriting complex transactions to provide bespoke warranty and indemnity and tax insurance products. Robert has more than 20 years’ worth of underwriting experience and has previously worked with Chubb and Ironshore.
PARK SQUARE CAPITAL
Independent credit provider Park Square Capital has announced Howard Sharp has been appointed head of mid-market direct lending, having previously been head of origination and sponsor coverage at GE Capital. Prior to this, Howard worked for RBS as deputy head of leveraged capital markets and at Societe Generale, ABN AMRO and NatWest. At Park Square, Howard will help grow the firm’s offering in mid-sized European loan opportunities.
BHR
Former Lord Mayor of London Sir Anthony Jolliffe has taken up an advisory role at Chinese institutional investor BHR. He joins from City accountancy firm Cork Gully, where he was chairman and senior partner.
UNION BANCAIRE PRIVEE
Swiss private bank Union Bancaire Privee (UBP) has appointed Matthew Kates as director, senior analyst in its European Equity team, where he will be focusing on the chemicals, support services, and leisure and travel sectors. Prior to this appointment, Matthew was European equities executive director at Nomura Investment Bank, concentrating on the chemicals and metals and mining sectors. Matthew also spent more than four years at Columbia Threadneedle.
ICG-LONGBOW
ICG-Longbow, ICG’s real estate division, has announced David Mortimer will be leading its senior loans programme. He will be joining the senior debt team and working closely with Martin Wheeler, joint head of ICG-Longbow. David, who holds an MA (Hons) from Cambridge University, joins from Santander where he is head of structured finance risk, real estate. David has also previously worked at King Sturge, JP Morgan and Bear Stearns.
AXA INVESTMENT MANAGERS – REAL ASSETS
Bertrand Loubieres has been appointed head of infrastructure finance at AXA Investment Managers – Real Assets. Bertrand will lead a team of five infrastructure specialists and will report into Isabelle Scemama, head of funds group. Bertrand, who has over 15 years’ experience in infrastructure and project finance, joins from BNP Paribas, where he was head of specialised product group for over eight years, and has also previously worked at Morgan Stanley.
