Lumiere London 2016: Light festival illuminates the City’s landmarks from King’s Cross and Westminster to Leicester Square
Some of London's most famous streets and buildings have been temporarily transformed by neons, projections and other light works, as part of the first major light festival to hit the capital.
Lumiere London is a four-day festival featuring light installations that stretch from the West End all the way to King's Cross. It kicked off last night and will be running until 10.30pm on Sunday 17th.
Festival-goers have been told to expect 3D projections, video-mapped displays, interactive pieces as well as jaw-dropping installations.
Lumiere first started in Durham seven years ago, where it's since returned every other year.
"It's been really successful in Durham, we've done four festivals there, the last one being in 2015. The mayor of London actually invited us to come and do a festival in London," Sarah Coop, development director of organisers Artichoke, told London Live.
"If ever shops are at their low point and hotels in London it's this weekend. [Lumiere] is to bring tourism and to give London a boost," she added."
The event is produced by creative agency Artichoke and supported by the mayor of London.
