London weather: Uh-oh – Storm Gertrude is heading for the capital and south east, as Met Office warns of heavy rain
Storm Gertrude has already made her presence known in northern parts of the country, and the Met Office has warned she'll be moving to London and the South East this evening.
The UK's main weather forecaster has updated its alerts from yesterday to include a yellow warning for the capital, Kent, Sussex and Hampshire.
Although the weather will not be as bad in the south as it is in the north of the UK – where gusts of wind up to 90mph are expected and a "red" level warning has been issued – things are going to get pretty soggy in the capital and surrounding areas.
Heavy rain is forecast for this evening (29 January) overnight, with the Met Office warning that up to 40mm could fall in higher ground.
"Be aware of the potential for further localised flooding and disruption to travel," it said.
It comes as parts of the UK face yet more severe flooding to homes and businesses, following several weeks of extreme weather.
