Spurs and Arsenal wait in wings as Leicester’s Premier League title bid continues without Kante
While Tottenham and Arsenal’s Premier League title bids resume on Wednesday, leaders Leicester will be without midfielder N’Golo Kante when they face West Brom tomorrow in the next instalment in the race for top-flight supremacy.
Frenchman Kante has been an influential presence for the Foxes this season, featuring in every league match and making more tackles and interceptions than any other player in the division.
Kante was withdrawn during Leicester’s narrow 1-0 win over Norwich on Saturday, and boss Claudio Ranieri has confirmed that the 24-year-old is set to miss tomorrow’s match as well as the weekend’s tussle with Watford due to a hamstring injury.
“We lose him [Kante] for the next two matches. I hope only two. It’s a little painful, he suffered during all of the season and now we want to give him some rest. Two matches and he can restart,” said Ranieri.
“He has been extraordinary but I am very confident because we played Kingy [Andy King] and he has started very well. I am very confident in him.”
Leicester are two points clear of second-placed Tottenham at the summit and five ahead of Arsenal, whose title challenge suffered a major blow following a 3-2 reverse at injury-plagued Manchester United on Sunday.
Tottenham’s title charge continues on Wednesday when they face high-flying West Ham at Upton Park, while Arsenal host Swansea and Capital One Cup winners Manchester City visit Liverpool.
