Jorg, a German economist and policymaker, has held numerous high-profile positions within the public sector. Prior to the ECB, between 2008 and 2012, he was state secretary at the German ministry of finance, responsible for European affairs and financial markets. During that time, he was also chairman of the financial regulator BaFin. Most recently, he was state secretary for the German ministry of labour and social affairs from 2014 to 2015.
IBB Solicitors
West London law firm IBB Solicitors has appointed Joanna Debiase as managing partner. She succeeds Steven Booth who takes up the newly created role of senior partner. Both appointments are effective from 1 May 2016. Joanna became a partner at IBB in 2009. In her current role as operations partner and compliance officer for legal practice she has been instrumental in ensuring that the firm’s management and operational processes develop in-line with industry best practice. Steven will take an increasingly external-facing role for IBB. He will continue to remain actively involved with clients and will be a crucial asset in propelling the firm's market-leading projects, especially those involving the local community.
Druces LLP
City of London law firm Druces LLP, focused on business and private wealth, has launched a new international wealth and fiduciary practice with the strategic hire of two additional partners. Robert Macro and Neil Morris join the firm from a top-100 law firm’s private client team where they were both partners. They will concentrate on and lead the firm’s international wealth and fiduciary practice in acting for an ever-increasing roster of clients dealing with complex tax, fiduciary and estates issues, both domestic and international.
Edmonds Marshall McMahon
Private prosecution law firm Edmonds Marshall McMahon has announced the appointment of trust and fraud specialist Sofie Hoffman as a partner. Sophie’s appointment follows that of Robert Hunter from Herbert Smith Freehills in February 2016 when the boutique law firm first announced it was expanding into civil fraud. Sophie joins from Boodle Hatfield where she was a partner in the contentious trusts team. Sophie is one of the foremost contentious trusts and fraud specialists with 20 years’ experience advising on a wide range of complex cases. Working in-house as well as in private practice, she has advised both companies and high-net worth individuals to assist them in recovering the proceeds of fraud through the civil courts – including through asset tracing.
