Football betting: Unreliable Manchester United should keep top four hopes alive
The Premier League’s most inconsistent pair go head-to-head at Old Trafford on Sunday when Manchester United host Everton.
Both have shown themselves capable of picking up results over top sides, but without any reliability.
Everton’s fine FA Cup victory over Chelsea was sandwiched by losses to West Ham and Arsenal.
Meanwhile, United have beaten the Gunners and Manchester City in the past month but also lost to West Brom and were knocked out of the Europa League by Liverpool.
That win over City has kept alive hopes of a top four finish and Champions League football next year, and should provide plenty of incentive over their final eight league fixtures.
Up against an Everton side with little to play for in the league, that motivation could be decisive.
The Red Devils are 21/20 to win with Betway, which I think is a good price.
Louis van Gaal’s men have ground out results at home, winning their last three by a single goal.
Combine that with the Toffees’ miserable Old Trafford record, where they have only one win in 22 matches since 1992, and all signs point to a United victory.
Sitting in 12th position coming into this weekend, pressure is building on Roberto Martinez to deliver, especially considering the talented squad at his disposal.
With only four wins to show from their last sixteen league matches, Martinez could face a tricky summer attempting to keep hold of Romelu Lukaku and John Stones.
United don’t score many goals, but they don’t concede many either.
Their last six games have only seen an aggregate of nine goals, leading me to suggest selling total goals at 2.4 with Sporting Index.
