Dyson has unveiled its most powerful hoover yet – the V8 cord-free vacuum cleaner
Around 500,000 hours of testing, on the back of 18 months in research and development, and a £250m investment has produced Dyson's most powerful vacuum cleaner yet.
The Dyson V8 cord-free vacuum features a digital motor which can spin up to 110,000 times every minute, helping it achieve an even more powerful suction than its predecessor, the Dyson V7. Other improvements include a longer run time, less noise and easier usage.
It also weighs just 2.6kg because key components like the motor and battery are positioned near the hand. This design shifts the centre of gravity, which makes the cleaning end of the vacuum a lot lighter.

British entrepreneur and inventor, Sir James Dyson, founder and co-owner of Dyson, said: "“We've spent more than a decade and over £250m developing our small and powerful digital motors."
"Our latest generation motor sits at the heart of the Dyson V8 cord-free vacuum. It’s the result of 18 months research and development and 500,000 hours of testing. This motor enables the Dyson V8 cord-free vacuum cleaner to be powerful and versatile, transforming the way people clean their homes.”

Dyson was previously embroiled in a heated hover battle with rival vacuum maker Bosch, which it accused of cheating "like VW" in energy efficiency tests.
Dyson had challenged what it said were the more misleading aspects of the energy label regulations in a judicial review by the European Courts.
It came to an abrupt end when the European Court of Justice (ECJ) dismissed the legal action, stating that current energy label tests do “not infringe the principle of equal treatment”.
