Staff at investment bank Liberum flash the cash on throw-away items, spending hundreds on a bin by their own desks
Bankers will go to huge lengths to make their lives easier.
Whether it's exercise bikes installed in Barclays' offices or private screenings of Spectre on the night of its UK premiere, there's a lot City workers will do to avoid the riff raff and maximise their efficiency.
It comes as no surprise, then, that staff at investment bank Liberum splashed out on some throw-away items at the firm's annual charity auction.
The firm raised a record £19,500 over a two-hour auction last weekend, with an unusual range of staff and guest-donated prizes being put up for bidding in aid of the Liberum Foundation's four anchor charities.
Donated prizes ranged from the sublime – a Gerhard Richter limited edition print donated by Bloomberg (sold for over £3,000) – to the necessary: three lots promised a litter bin by a lucky winner’s desk for a year.
The bins proved quite the coveted item, as each was sold for £450 a-piece.
