EU referendum: YouGov polls say Britain thought to be more influential in Europe than not
Britain's influence in global affairs is a key battleground in the EU referendum, with the Remain and Leave side claiming the UK's power will be larger if they win the vote.
But looking beyond the arguments each side are spouting, Britain's perceived influence in European affairs is at an all-time high, according to data compiled by YouGov.
YouGov research conducted around every two months since 2012 suggests Britain's perceived influence has grown.
In three surveys undertaken this year, more people have said Britain is influential in Europe than not.
YouGov said: "There may be a measure of the forthcoming referendum seen as giving us influence, or it may be that the prime minister's renegotiation at least suggested Britain was involved in discussions at the EU table."
It comes as Vote Leave's ensemble of politicians have stated British influence is increasingly diminished.
Those backing continued membership, however, have told the UK that the EU helps magnify Britain's influence in the world, including Prime Minister David Cameron and President Barack Obama.
