Tumblers at the ready – mixologists are being challenged to create the perfect cockatil for the Queen’s birthday
Mixologists love nothing more than making cocktails to mark historic events.
And now, true to form, the Wine and Spirit Trade Association (WSTA) has launched a glamorous competition for mixologists to create the perfect cocktail to toast the Queen's birthday.
British gin and English sparkling wine makers will battle it out to improve on one of the Royal favourites, a Dubonnet Cocktail, made up of dry gin and orange bitters and traditionally served on ice.

Entrants have a fortnight to send in their gin and fizz recipes, which will be judged by an expert panel at a mixology event at Trading House by Guildhall next month.
WSTA said the winning tipple will be the drink of choice for royalists on the Queen's official birthday on 11 June, go down in history, and join classics such as the Old Fashioned and Pimm's Cup in the list of drinks one can order at the bar to look sophisticated.
