Ashurst
International law firm Ashurst has announced that Dave Rome, managing director, head of EMEA loan markets at RBS, will be joining the firm as strategic director – corporate lending. Dave has spent over 25 years at RBS and NatWest, working in the UK and Europe as well as spending six years in Asia. In his new role, Dave will be responsible for developing, building and driving the firm’s strategy and performance across syndicated loan markets through the provision of value add, market based, debt structuring and commercial advice to Ashurst’s lawyers and its existing and prospective client base across lenders (be they established, challenger banks or funds) corporates and financial institutions.
Deloitte
Deloitte, the business advisory firm, has appointed Andrew Bulley as partner in the EMEA centre for regulatory strategy. Andrew joins from the Bank of England and is a voting member of the board of supervisors of the European insurance and occupational pensions authority. During a successful and varied career which has spanned the government and corporate and investment banking sectors, the Financial Services Authority and the Bank of England’s prudential regulation authority (PRA), Andrew has worked in increasingly senior roles covering the supervision of insurers, banks, brokers, asset managers and IFAs. Most recently, he played a key leadership role in the PRA’s roll-out of Solvency II to the life insurance industry.

Global law firm White & Case LLP has expanded its global mergers & acquisitions practice with the addition of Guy Potel as a new partner in London. Guy advises major listed and private companies on public and private acquisitions, equity capital raisings, joint ventures and minority equity investments. He also advises a number of leading development banks on their equity investments. Guy joins from Hogan Lovells, where he was a partner, and brings more than 17 years’ experience.
Shepherd and Wedderburn
UK law firm, Shepherd and Wedderburn, has announced the hire of corporate lawyer, Carl Powlson, who joins the corporate team of the firm’s London office. Carl’s expertise and experience spans both UK and cross-border corporate finance matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity and general corporate advice. Formerly, Carl was with Australian boutique firm Atanaskovic Hartnell.
