Mayor of London Sadiq Khan announces London safety review after Nice attacks
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has announced a review of London's security measures in the wake of the tragic Nice attacks.
Khan said that he will be "reviewing our own safety measures" as he stated the capital will "stand united" with France.
"I and the Metropolitan Police Commissioner will do everything possible to keep Londoners safe," he said, adding that the "poisonous and twisted" terrorists would be overcome.
"The Met police services and security services do an amazing job every day keeping us safe. They regularly review security measures but clearly as the terrorists evolve the way they try and hurt us we've got to evolve how we keep ourselves safe.
"After Brussels, after Istanbul, after Nice the police and the security experts will rightly review that we're safe. Cobra is meeting today, but the police need to make sure that we learn any lessons possible from attacks elsewhere around the world.
"It's really important we don't allow these terrorists, those involved with this evil and cowardly attack, to allow them to change the way we live our lives."
The announcement comes after a deadly attack took place in Nice last night, claiming the lives of at least 84 people, including children, and injuring many more.
Foreign secretary Boris Johnson said that one British citizen had been injured.
