Deontay Wilder attempts to lure Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury into ring for unification bouts
Undefeated WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has called for unification bouts with British duo Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua after navigating his latest title defence.
The 30-year-old retained his crown by defeating compatriot Chris Arreola, whose corner stopped the clash after eight rounds, in Birmingham, Alabama in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Wilder, nicknamed the Bronze Bomber, claimed post-fight that a broken hand and pulled muscle had prevented him from flooring his opponent again, having knocked him to the canvass in round four.
But the majority of his focus was reserved for WBA Super and WBO champion Fury as well IBF holder Joshua and those potential showdowns.
“Of course I want Tyson Fury and of course I want Anthony Joshua. The question is do they want me,” said Wilder. “My goal is to unify the division. I’m one of the baddest, hardest-hitting heavyweights in the business, so whoever’s got those belts, that’s who I want.”
Fury’s next fight is set to be a rematch against former divisional king Wladimir Klitschko, while Joshua is yet to name his latest opponent after beating Dominic Breazeale last month.
